Join Texas A&M Innovation on Wednesday, October 23, 4:30 PM-6:30PM CST for the next seminar in our InnovationU series, “Patenting & Publishing”


Attendees will hear from Texas A&M faculty members, Dr. Gerard L. Coté, Texas A&M Regents Professor and expert in biomedical sensing technologies, and Dr. Cynthia Hipwell, a recognized technology and business process innovator, and professor. Attendees will take away from these leading innovators practical strategies for achieving success in an academic career while navigating and reaping the benefits of engaging in commercialization. The session will include Q&A and networking opportunities, accompanied by light refreshments.


This educational session is tailored toward researchers, faculty, staff, and students from The Texas A&M University System.


Meet our Speakers

Dr. Gerard Coté is a Texas A&M Regents Professor and expert in biomedical sensing, with multiple patents and over 450 publications. He will share his insights on balancing patenting with publishing and how both have played key roles in his academic success.

Dr. Cynthia Hipwell has been working in technology development based on nanoscale phenomena for almost 30 years and holds 17 patents. As the Oscar S. Wyatt, Jr. ’45 Chair II in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M, she will discuss how her extensive patent portfolio has complemented her publishing journey and contributed to her academic success.
